Job Description

Merchandising Proficiency & Vendor Management

  • Vendor/Contract management: To be the company’s representative in the market to build and manage strategic relationship with vendor. To negotiate for favorable terms and drive business with vendors and make necessary adjustments according to performance to meet business targets and objectives. To ensure contracts are administered timely and accurately.
  • Inventory Management: To manage inventory effectively and accurately. To utilize information in order to maximize stock movement and stock turns .
  • Creative Ideation: To develop creative and commercially viable concepts and solutions, to improve business performance & competitive advantage.
  • Data Driven Decision Making : To critically analyses data to build customer-focused initiatives and programmes. To maximise profitability and make key decisions through fact and reason.

 

Business Focus & Development

  • To assist in the development and execution of the Merchandising Strategy for the brand or concept in line with positioning; taking into consideration customer profile, categories assortment, fashion trends, items and price points.
  • To assist in the management and maintenance of the merchandise plan: open to buy, inventory levels, markdown and discount and monthly sales and margin targets to achieve the set financial goals.
  • To manage brands/vendors performance and maximize potentials.
  • To analyze the business performance and take appropriate actions in order to achieve sales and profit goals.
  • Being constantly on top of key market and product trends and being able to translate right trends into commercial opportunities.

 

Merchandise Presentation Branding and Marketing

  • To plan marketing strategies and product launches with brand/vendor in line with store campaigns to maximize exposure/sales.
  • To negotiate for co-op marketing contribution from vendors and plan marketing programs accordingly to drive the business taking into consideration of Loyalty Management and non-Loyalty Management targets.
  • To inform all stores of advertised promotions well in advance of the ad; to schedule deliveries so that stock is available in the stores or all advertised merchandise.
  • To note and analyze the results of all marketing initiatives for future planning.

 

Operations Execution and Training

  • To visit the shop floor frequently to check on merchandise displays and stock levels; to consult with retail executive and sales people on problems and suggestions. Spend time to know customers
  • To conduct trend, product knowledge and feedback sessions with operations team regularly.
  • To maintain close communications with retail executive and sales staff to convey merchandise information and merchandising strategies of the department.
  • Any other duties which may be assigned by your immediate supervisor/manager from time to time.
Job Requirements
  • Candidate must possess at least a Bachelor's Degree, Post Graduate Diploma, Professional Degree in related field
  • 2 - 3 years of working experience in the retail industry merchandising
  • Proven track record in category management, product/brand assortment and vendor management
  • Experienced in sourcing and buying
  • Good project management skills with experience in pop up/event planning and in planning changes for layout
  • Pro-active self-starter with strategic and analytical thinking skills
  • Team player who co-operates well and thrives in a very competitive environment
  • Excellent communication & negotiation skills
  • Effective Planning & Organization Skills/ Ability to lead and control business operation
